Backend Developer – Java Location: Bengaluru Experience: 1–7 years Company: PowerUp Money About PowerUp Money PowerUp Money is a SEBI-registered mutual fund advisory app. We are democratising high-quality investment advisory so that more Indians can make informed investing decisions through unbiased advice. In just 16 months, we have: - Onboarded more than 15 lakh users - Built a community of over 1 lakh subscribed users We are now looking for a strong Backend Developer to help us build reliable, scalable systems as we continue to grow. What You’ll Do - Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot. - Build reliable APIs and distributed systems that support a rapidly growing user base. - Work with databases and make appropriate data-modelling and performance decisions. - Build and maintain event-driven workflows using Kafka. - Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business teams to solve customer problems. - Own features and services from problem definition and design through development, deployment, and production monitoring. - Improve the reliability, performance, observability, and maintainability of our systems. - Make sound technical decisions even when requirements are evolving or incomplete. - Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering practices. What We’re Looking For - 1–7 years of experience in backend software development. - Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot. - Good understanding of at least one relational or NoSQL database. - Experience working with Kafka or similar event-streaming technologies. - Experience building and operating scalable backend services and REST APIs. - Previous experience working in a product-based company. - Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements and ambiguity. - Strong problem-solving and debugging skills. - A high-ownership mindset—you take responsibility for outcomes, not just assigned tasks. - Ability to collaborate effectively while independently driving projects to completion. - Good understanding of software design principles, system reliability, and engineering best practices.
