I run engineering at Zenskar, where we're rebuilding what a billing system is allowed to be. The old model treats billing as a rigid ledger you bolt pricing onto and pray. We think it should be the opposite: a flexible, near-effortless layer that bends to however a business actually charges — usage, hybrid, matrix, contract-driven, whatever comes next — without a re-platform every time the GTM team gets creative. Part of that is giving the industry better language. I frame billing around PIT vs POT — Point-In-Time settles what's true at a single moment; Period-Over-Time accrues value across a duration. It sounds academic until you realize this one distinction quietly governs whether your revenue numbers are correct, and most billing systems blur it until it breaks at scale. It's also the foundation of our v3 engine: a memory-enabled rating core that carries each customer's pricing and usage context across billing periods — stateful rating, instead of recomputing the world from scratch every cycle. That's what keeps complex, long-running contracts both correct and cheap to run as volume climbs past 100M+ events a day. Eleven years in software, and I'm convinced billing is the most underestimated hard problem in B2B — and the most fun one to fix.

Keeps complex, long-running contracts both correct and cheap to run as volume climbs past 100M+ events/day. • Coined the PIT vs POT framing — Point-In-Time vs Period-Over-Time — to sharpen how the team and customers reason about when revenue is actually real. It's the distinction most billing systems quietly blur until it breaks at scale. • Architected and scaled the multi-tenant pipeline processing ~100M usage events/day (Kafka → ClickHouse with aggregating materialized views) for accurate, near-real-time revenue computation — the part customers get notably weird about when it's wrong. • Led the event-driven core's migration from NATS to Kafka, plus major-version PostgreSQL and Keycloak upgrades and a self-hosted SigNoz observability stack on ECS. • Built the engineering org from the ground up: defined the career ladder, promotion criteria, and a structured multi-role hiring pipeline — and grew engineers into pod leads and managers. • Drove an AI-native shift across the team: designed an autonomous agent platform and shipped internal AI products including a live-call CS copilot and a GTM intelligence system. • Hardened the reliability and security posture — left-shifting security into the SDLC — and built the platform around ASC 606-aligned revenue recognition. • Helped shape Zenskar's "Revenue OS" positioning: opinionated about revenue truth, agnostic about everything else.
